To sign up for a library card please visit either White County Library Helen or White County Library Cleveland! You can also start the registration process here and finish in person with a photo ID. If you intend to only use our e-books or audiobooks through Libby, or other online services, you can receive an e-card number for use on those; if you ever decide to check out print materials we can switch your card in person at one of our branches! If our library doesn’t have what you’re looking for, we can borrow books from over 280 PINES libraries in the state and we can borrow CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks from the other five libraries in our region. White County Library Helen has a courier service that runs every weekday to deliver these items to our patrons. With a library card you will also have access to online research databases, reference books, genealogy tools, and interactive language-learning resources through Galileo. White County Library Helen also hosts free story-times, classes, activities and special events for all ages. See our calendar and On-Going Programs pages for more information.

Aside from the wonderfully large inventory of over 35,000 volumes we have available for check out at White County Library Helen, not to mention the millions we have access to throughout the state, we also have a number of e-books, audiobooks and magazines available through Libby by Overdrive. Once you have a library card you can set up your PINES account at gapines.org where you can search our catalog, place items on hold, check your due dates, and see any fines you may have accrued. There is also an option on your PINES account to keep track of the items you check out so you’ll always know what you’ve read, and you can store lists of books you’d like to read in the future. After your PINES account is set up you can register at libbyapp.com or download the Libby app to search our inventory of e-books, audiobooks, and magazines. White County Library Helen has public computers available with internet access and Microsoft Office. They can be used easily with a library card by inputting your library card number into the User ID line on any of the computers in the cluster by the circulation desk or the computers against our wall of windows. If you don’t have a library card please see the staff at the circulation desk for a guest pass. White County Library Helen staff will answer basic questions about computer use and jargon, but staff cannot provide in-depth training on how to use the computer or Internet. Staff also cannot advise or assist patrons with tax, financial, medical, or other private records due to liability issues. If you need assistance please bring someone with you who can quietly help you or seek a basic computer course nearby.
The prints from our computers and black and white copies are $0.15 per 8×11 page. Color prints and copies are $1.00 per 8×11 page. Legal and ledger size papers are available at an additional cost. Faxes are $1.00 per page to send and $0.50 per page to receive. We also laminate, but please call ahead as our machine takes time to heat up. The front desk staff can give you an estimate of the cost when the item is brought in as we charge per running foot.
Our White County Library Helen community room is available for rental throughout the year, excepting the summer months when our Summer Reading Program is in full swing. Please call for information regarding the community room.
